or Classes with Joyce Teta
Edward Johnston (having sparked the modern calligraphy revival), developed the Foundational Hand as a teaching hand from his study of many hands: specifically 10th century carolingian. This is the "life-drawing" of calligraphy: the study of this hand being the basis to better understand all of the other types of lettering, from carolingian, black-letter, humanist miniscule & italic. It is also a beautiful hand in its own right.
Starting with letter forms, techniques & tools, we will work our way to the written page (poem, small book, or quote). Many examples and demos will be shown. A great starting point for the beginner and an incisive look at broad pen for more advanced.
